The Kansas Department of Transportation hired Crafton Tull to prepare the Discovery Report and construction plans for the K-39 over South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad overpass in Chanute, Kansas. Clearance was tight and the overpass had to be 23’ - 0” above the railroad; however the adjacent sidewalk grade could not be sloped greater that 5 percent. All of this had to take place between two intersections 1,200 feet apart. With coordination with the City of Chanute and S.K.O. Railroad, plans were complete in September 2006.
