Jonathan HamnerFrom January through March 2019, Our team partnered with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) to conduct a survey of the land surrounding Cox Creek Lake to ensure that the boundary markings were definitive, accurate, and consistent with the original intent of developers in 1964.
Cox Creek Lake was constructed in 1964 as a tributary of the Saline River. In acquiring the property for the future CCL, AGFC needed to purchase plots of land from multiple property owners. Using imprecise technology to acquire boundaries and lacking a formal survey of the terrain, current AGFC boundaries were inaccurate and confusing. With several timber corporations seeking to cut trees in the vicinity along with numerous private citizens building property near the lake, it was critical to not only conduct a survey but to accurately reflect the terrain of 1964.
Our team members used an RTK GPS system to re-calibrate the equipment to calculate how the terrain surrounding Cox Creek Lake would have existed in 1964. Painting and placing signage in 50-foot intervals, we marked the 8-mile radius.
