Genesis Cancer Center

Genesis Cancer Center was in need of relocating from the 4,000 square foot medical office tower space that they had previously occupied into a larger facility. The Owner purchased a steeply sloping 1.8 acre site as part of his goal to provide patients with a non-institutional, family centered treatment experience. To accomplish this goal, the Owner envisioned a facility resembling a Colorado mountain lodge with plenty of natural light and views, yet not so rustic as to imply a lack of medical cleanliness. The Architect’s challenge was to incorporate the Owner’s vision into a modern medical facility, appropriate to Hot Springs, and fully functional on the difficult site. The result is an 11,500 square foot building with patient spaces on the Entry (upper) level, and support / staff space tucked underneath, accessible from the rear.
