Kelley Highway bridge replacement - Fort Smith, AR
Kelley Highway Bridge was widened from two to four lanes in stages to maintain the flow of traffic. The 202’-0” bridge is a continuous composite W-beam unit with 51’-0” of clear roadway and sidewalks on each side. Mechanically stabilized earth walls were constructed at the abutments to provide clear zones along I-540. Off-ramps were widened, traffic signals were added, and decorative lighting and poles were used as part of the project. Crafton Tull provided civil engineering, structural engineer, survey, and construction observation.
The project won the transportation category for the Arkansas Council of Engineering Companies Award.
